In these two studies we will look at the difficult subject of "unanswered" prayer.

Unanswered Prayer

When God says, "No"

Look at the following examples of ‘unanswered’ prayer in the Bible and see, from the context, whether you can make a note of why:

1. 2 Samuel 12:20-23
2. Luke 22:42
3. 2 Corinthians 12:8-9

Our response, when God says, "No"

What should be our response when God effectively says ‘no’ to our prayers?

Please read the following passages and note what response we can give:

1. James 4:1-5
2. Romans 8:28; 1 Peter 5:7; Hebrews 13:5
3. 1 Samuel 1:19-20; Luke 2:25-35

Yet whatever happens there is something special about our prayers that should encourage us to carry on: Revelation 5:8; Revelation 8:3-4
