What's In A Name?

All names have a meaning. The name of our church has been chosen carefully for its special meaning.

Emmanuel is a name we all hear at Christmas when we sing carols. And it means “God with us”. The connection is that at Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus, when God became a man and lived on this Earth. Even though Jesus is now in heaven, God is still with us through his Holy Spirit.

Evangelical means we are convinced the Bible is the revealed Word of God; it contains all we need to know to live our lives now and in the future and so we aim to base our lives upon the teaching of the Bible and trust him for the future.

While Emmanuel and Evangelical were our choice of names, Church is the name given by God for a group of Christians who regularly meet together.

As such, our course has been charted by God; our destiny has been planned by God; our members have been chosen by God; our purposes have been defined by God.
