In this session we will look at the idea of fasting.

Prayer and Fasting

1. Please look at the following scriptures and note on what occasions God’s people seen to fast in scripture:

   • Nehemiah 1:4; Esther 4:3; Daniel 9:3
   • Joel 2:12
   • Luke 2:37
   • Acts 13:2; Acts 14:3

2. What does the Lord Jesus say regarding his disciples and fasting? (Matthew 6:16; Matthew 9:15)

3. Finally, discuss: what are the ‘benefits’ of fasting?
