In this session we are going to look just a little more closely at the Biblical leadership of Elders.
Background
Church has an eternal, international, regional and local expression. Here, we are part of EECC.
Last week we saw that Biblical Church Leadership involves people who care for and serve the church, primarily with the Word of God. The key characteristic for such leaders in the New Testament is that they are men of the Word. Hebrews 13:7-17; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; Psalm 23; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Acts 15:6; Acts 20:25-31
Elders
This week we are going to look just a little more closely at the Biblical leadership of Elders.
Read through the following passages of scripture and in each case note down the Biblical requirements either stated or implied for the Elders and for the church.
- Acts 20:17; 1 Timothy 5:17; Titus 1:5; James 5:14
- 1 Timothy 3:1; Matthew 20:25-28
- Acts 15:5-6
- 1 Timothy 5:17-20; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13; Hebrews 13:17
